Romita Swanson, a native Californian and long time resident of Calaveras County passed away peacefully at her home on January 31, 2010, with family and friends present. She was active in the Mokelumne Hill community and local organizations for many years, particularly the Mokelumne Hill Women's Club, Community Club, and Girl Scouts. She was well known for her role in developing and orchestrating the infamous Women's Club Shows and Kiddie Kapers, starring many local townspeople and children. She was also an avid reader and sports enthusiast. Per her wishes, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Amador & Calaveras Counties (Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642), A-PAL Humane Society (Box 192, Jackson, CA 95642), Calaveras Humane Society (Box 177, Vallecito, CA 95251) or a charity of your choosing. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Swanson, and her daughter Karen Swanson. Surviving family members include her children, Tom (Rosa) McBroom, Kris Swanson Ford, Kim Swanson (Jim) Vinciguerra, cherished grandchildren John (Teresa) Ford and Kevin (Angela) Ford, Nick, Teresa and Anthony Vinciguerra, and her delightful great grandchildren Andrew, Anne-Marie and Aaron Ford, as well as her beloved and well-fed pet and head warmer, Sam Houston. She will be greatly missed by family and friends, and was probably thought by some folks to be a legend in her own time.

Most of all, she enjoyed the company of her cat, her family said.She is survived by her children and their spouses, Tom and Rosa McBroom, of Irving,ase training Texas, Kris (Swanson) Ford, of Mokelumne Hill, and Kim (Swanson) Vinciguerra and Jim Vinciguerra, of Sutter Creek; grandchildren, John Ford, and his wife, Teresa, of Leander, Texas, and Kevin Ford and his wife, Angela, of Austin, Texas, and Nick, Teresa and Anthony Vinciguerra, all of Sacramento; and three great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Swanson, and her daughter, Karen Swanson.
