Moke Hill Library/History Society Archives 10th Anniversary Celebration

Come to the 10th year anniversary of the reestablishment of the Mokelumne Hill Library and Archives. Join the Moke Hill Friends of the Library and History Society on Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Library and the Shutter Tree Park next door. The celebration is in honor of Mary Wilborn for her many contributions to organizations in Mokelumne Hill. Antoinette May, journalist and author, will speak on her career and latest books, Pilate’s Wife and The Sacred Well; Lloyd Donald Ames will speak on his two scrapbooks of very old news articles (beginning in 1861) from the Calaveras Chronicle about happenings in Moke Hill, Glencoe, and West Point; Irene and Michael Boylson will demonstrate their solar oven and speak on their experiences in Brazil. Activities in the park will include: music performed by Jeff Tuttle and Phil McCartney, cartooning demonstrated by Kevin Brady, Jugglers, and children’s games. There will be ice cream cones for everyone! Questions? Phone the Moke Hill Library at 286-0507.
