On this, our third return to New Orleans and a Sunday, we realized we would have to pay the top dollar. for our room so we booked at the Ambassador Hotel since they had free parking. We dropped off our bags and car at the Hotel and headed back to the Bayou St John Music Festival. We saw and heard great bands including Washboard Chaz and Monk Boudreaux's Golden Eagles. who had the Mardi Gras King & his family- they were dressed in full regalia. The final artist was Rockin' Dopsie Jr. & the Zydeco Twisters - who had a full band. Dopsie preformed moves like James Brown- amazing.

Our first stop was Morgan City where the "river wall" is 25 or 30 feet tall and the waters of the Morganza river are quickly and quietly increasing. The spillways further north were opened last Saturday to relieve pressure on New Orleans and Baton Rouge. This is a difficult situation for Morgan City and the people are worried and come to see the rising water daily. There is a solid metal gate that could be opened to let the water flow. There was water already spilling out of the bottom through some holes. Stressful situation.

OMG... OK so we got to Houston ahead of schedule, but our bags did not make the their connection in Los Angeles. Therefore we visited the highlights of Houston including the Discovery Park downtown and Memorial Park. By 2:30 PM Central time we were on our way. Our plan was to to make Baton Rouge but we stopped in Lafayette due to our delayed departure from Houston. Lafayette is a beautiful city and we relaxed with cocktails at Agave. However, we ate at Don's Seafood restaurant in Lafayette.

Asella and I are in the SF airport and waiting for our flight to Houston TX. Our flight has been delayed, but we are preparing ourselves for this adventure at a charming, greasy airport deli. We will be renting a car in Houston and driving through the (flooded) gulf coast states. We already have a few recommendations for places to see in Alabama. We lunched today with Erik, Trevor, & Christian at a Thai place in the Mission. We'll update you with pictures when we figure how to post them.
Next stop Hobby, actually LAX then Houston.
Love and kisses,
